Part 1: Introduction
This may be the final big article I will post about ‘The Last Fallen Star’. From the reviews and reactions, I’ve received for the last article on this book, I thought it wasn’t at least worse than I thought (and it was small when I glanced at it next time!). I have also asked if you’ve any comments, but none commented. Still if you’ve question, I am open.
Okay, I don’t want to be Bumbletongue like Tristan. So, let’s get to the point. At first, I will be honest with you: I haven’t done much research on the contents related to this book except going to Wikipedia. First, because I don’t trust a lot of websites about what I don’t to know of. Second, because I want to be surprised with the tantalizing facts too (come on, I am a reader too!).
But I will try to give you as much information as possible. It maybe a bit less, because the Read Riordan sneak-peek provided only the first two chapters, while the Buzz Books sneak-peek had first three chapters. I couldn't read the third one, as this Amazon service in not available in my region; but you'll get the link including all the links at the end of this article in the 'acknowledgement' section. Anyway, let’s jump into the facts and stuffs. Again, I will remind you that something important:
WARNING: Major spoilers from the sneak-peek and maybe the predictions will play!
Part 2: The Cover
A: The Unicorn Qianlima
Guys, I am confessing it and I won’t be correcting the mistake I made in my first article on this book about the pink flying-horse on the book cover. Okay, I confess: I AM WRONG, THAT WASN’T AN UNICORN. That was of course, the QIANLIMA. What’s that?
Well, from the research (only in Wikipedia) Qianlima is a mythical horse which is also known as Chollima, Cheollima and Senrima (as you prefer). Why I mentioned all these names? Because sometimes the authors choose different names for a similar body. Anyway, this creature literally means thousand-li horse. According to the myth, the winged horse is said to too swift and elegant to be mounted by a mortal man and is named after its ability to travel one thousand-li in a single day.
Then, I didn’t find anymore about this creature except the boring stuffs not related to the mythology. In brief, get ready to meet a pink winged horse that should fly in The Last Fallen Star from 4th May, 2021.
B: The Bottle/Jar
I don’t know much about this bottle/jar held by Riley Oh. First, I thought it was a bottle of ketchup or hot-sauce. Then, I thought what would someone do with a bottle of taste-enhancer in a quest, unless they decide to occasional tea-times on the way. And after that, I got a weird thought: What if the last essence of Hattie Oh is in the bottle?!
Mind-blowing, isn’t it? I am a genius! Wait a second, sorry… that’s Diego’s dialogue. Anyway, it might also be some kind of healing element for a Gom witch. Well… I don’t know; I could bumble like this for more time; let’s get to the next point.
From the latest video from Read Riordan where Graci Kim spoke with Rick Riordan, the bottle/jar was zoomed and it showed a heart shaped bottle like thing with a red heart colored at the middle. Though this jar doesn't seem similar to the one in the cover, I assume they're the same. And maybe their purpose is the same because why'd you put this jar in cover or character art.
There is another possibility that I cannot throw away as I remember from recently slightly reading Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: what if this works as the walnut Mallory Keen uses to trap Loki (though, unfortunately she was trapped by that before too!) which was given to her by her mother Frigg, the wife of Odin? It may be the thing that can trap the 'last fallen star' or maybe the first prediction is correct.
C: The Boy
I can’t even talk about this boy too! He is not in the synopsis and not even in the sneak-peek! I can only say that this guy must be a side-kick. Plus, he could also be a way of keeping the humor in place as I Riley isn’t much like that and Hattie is near-to-be deceased. That guy, could be annoying Riley much and Riley can comment which would make this funny. But from the expression of the boy, I can tell you that this guy will not be Hattie-type funny, he will be different. And…
And there won’t be much turn of chemical events between these two characters as there is a long way to go through the next books of the series. Now, I will tell you something seriously spoiler-y! CLOSE YOUR EYES…
This boy must be a Miru or Samjogo witch. From the blue glow that looks like the color of Water and the blue figure erupting from it – A womanly face with feathers and wing or something which should be either the Water-Dragon or Three-Legged Crow, the patrons of Miru and Samjogo respectively. But judging from the color difference, it should be Water-Dragon and the clan should be Miru though the figure of the dragon is weird. There is also water beneath their feet.
And I don’t know how, a super-strength dude would joke; but as I said it shouldn’t be Hattie-type. So, I actually correct as he was also standing as if being prepared for anything. The plot is maybe like this: when Riley and Hattie messes things up something explodes and the boy rushes in the incident place… Wait a second, I told you I won’t tell the plot! SORRY.
BEEEEP!
Up to 'BEEEEP!' the whole part was written many days before. This is the day before I will publish the article. But I don't want to remove any parts if there is any important point to sort out. Anyway, from the recent articles about two characters: The Last Fallen Star: Meet Boris, it was clear that Emmett will accompany Riley in her journey. I am not actually sure about that the figure in the cover is Emmett as I am not sure of what gender Emmett is.
Anyway, in the article by Read Riordan it was also clear that, Boris the scooter is used by Miru clan members. So, I am not actually sure. Okay! Let's go the next part... and before that, if Emmett is the figure in the cover, then no problem too!
D: The Big Red Figure
The big red figure which is right under the title of the book on the cover, is the head of a line as we’d clearly see from the recent downloadable cards in the recent quiz. The figure looks like a tiger and which remind us of Mountain Tiger Goddess, the ex-Patron of the Horangi clan. So, it should’ve something to do with Horangi clan from the sneak-peek: alert by an elder about the contact of Horangi. And of course, the figure doesn’t look like so happy as its teeth are bare.
E: The Fire-y Glow
As you’ve noticed on the cover, there is an orange-colored glow coming from below Riley’s feet. It looks like going upwards like smoke or FIRE. Now, suddenly a memory flashes back inside our head from the sneak-peek:
Sorry, to copy the sneak-peek. But if I mention it in my way, it would be messy. So, do you find any similarities between the fire-y glow and the incident above? If not, then you’re lucky – you can be more mystified reading it for the first time than me. But I’d be excited which you’d miss.
F: The Shooting Star
Or more specifically the “the last fallen star” according to the title and what Riley started searching for. From the recent articles or specifically The Last Fallen Star: Meet the Cave Bear Goddess, it is clear that Riley was assigned this task by the Cave Bear Goddess, the patron goddess of Gom clan. According to the article, this shooting star which according to Read Riordan Staff - "a piece of the Godrealm that drives humans mad with greed, destruction, and despair."
Part 3: Crazy Predictions
When this article will be published the book was already out. But I haven't read it, so you need to stick around with the fact that I was like you were few days ago. Anyway, here are some crazy predictions from The Last Fallen Star that I think may play.
A: Riley will save her sister
This maybe a pretty dum prediction, but judging from the whole trilogy perspective it's not. Because Hattie may've been saved in the next book too. Who knows...
B: At the end, Riley will have friends & foes
In this search for 'the last fallen star', Riley has face many people. According to the book-description, Riley have to collaborate with bad guys to fulfill her quest. After this whole quest, Riley will have many friends but more foes as she may've caused quite a hassle along the way to save her sister.
C: Riley will have magic
Somehow, almost all the people guessed it. But I think writing here will make it better. Maybe Riley will have magic from the sharing-spell or maybe not from that. This is because, you can't plot a mythology around a saram antagonist or an antagonist without any magic.
D: Riley could've some problems with the Elders/Temple
After this whole quest, Riley could've some problems or differentiation with the Elders or Temple. It is because all the high-authorities has always made the life of the antagonist miserable. Remember the House of Life from The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan. At first, and even near the end, they opposed the antagonists. It happens with almost all the plots.
But I can assure you that Riley will have a better relationship with the Elders/Temple at the end of the last book in the trilogy. Maybe she will become one of the Elders or any important member.
E: Many secrets of Horangi clan will be revealed
Horangi clan will play an important role in the plot. From the sneak-peek we've found that this clan have contacted with an Elder. So, apparently authors don't give situations without using it in his/her plot. Similarly for The Last Fallen Star, we may also find a lot of secrets revealed of this clan. Maybe you can find that actually Horangis were good and the history was written by the villains! Who knows - similar thing happened in the Pandava series by Roshani Chokshi.
Part 4: Conclusion
It's really hard to find a good kind of prediction and write it out. But I've tried to give as much as prediction possible in here. If you still don't think it's sufficient, then you can visit The Half-Blood Report and listen to Diego's crazy predictions. The link is at the 'suggested links' part in the end of this article.
NOTE: I've tried my best to make this article good. But as I am not much eager to edit fearing that I might've removed some important information, I tried to make it understandable to you by pointing out the parts. If I am wrong (not predictions, of course), then sorry. If my predictions are wrong, then I am happy to make you excited and disappointed at last; because while you were reading you maybe thinking of this with excitement but when you didn't get, you're still excited. Anyway, those who'd like to comment, you're welcome.
